Struggling Through Valentine’s

In today’s devotion, I talk about my feelings on Valentine’s Day after my engagement was broken. It was awful.

Maybe you’re facing Valentine’s Day with dread this year too. Either your heart is broken or full with unfulfilled longings for a mutually loving relationship.

I get it.

Looking back on my heart-break made me wonder… If I had the opportunity now to comfort my younger, heart-broken self, what would I say?

I would be so much more tender with my young self than I was to myself at the time. I would speak words of comfort instead of instruction. I’d love myself and take care of myself rather than beating myself up and looking for where it all went wrong. Here’s what I’d say to my younger self (and to you, sweet friend):

Let it all out. Years ago in a tragedy at our church, a high school senior lost his life in an accident at youth camp. It was terrible, the church community reeled, and our caring staff brought in a Christian counselor to talk to us about grief and healing. He said something I’ll never forget, “Feel every emotion as it comes and lay them all at the foot of the cross.” He explained that Christians are often the worst people to try to help in grief because we don’t want to acknowledge our feelings. We want to pretend everything is ok to create a facade that we think looks like faith. Instead, he argued, we’d heal more quickly if we took every emotion to Jesus. When my heart broke, I hid from Jesus and tried to act like I was ok. Not a good solution.

Being broken-hearted isn’t wrong. God is highly relational, and we are created in His image. Hurting when relationship breaks is part of being His image-bearer. We don’t want to wallow and stay stuck in that hurt, but it wasn’t healthy that I tried to ignore and plow through it either.

Better days are coming. The hopelessness of a broken heart is the worst, but God promises good to those who love Him and are called to His purposes. (Romans 8:28) If I could have given my younger self a peek at myself today, she would have known that God had something better in store than the previous relationship. She would have seen that each day would be less miserable as she moved back toward God and His healing.

Ultimately, God wants our hearts to be whole in Him, not dependent on the love of another human. But He’s the tender creator of our hearts who knits us back together after hurts. Let’s celebrate that this Valentine’s Day.

If your heart is healthy, whole, and maybe even in love, could I call on you to reach out in love this week? Let’s not forget those who might need some comfort as we celebrate romance.

Here’s a fun little giveaway for singles! If you’re single or going to give the gift to someone who is single, you are eligible. Everybody else, please sit this one out. 🙂 Leave a comment or simply say “I am loved” to enter!

  7. Thank you Amy. I’m now divorced after 33 tremulous years of marriage. I’d have saved myself many years of heartache if I had understood as I do now. I am Loved by God!! I think did not leave the church but it was not helpful. This Valentine’s being on Sunday at church anyone that would like to renew their wedding vows May and are encouraged to bring their wedding photo also. Awkward but pleased I’m not having to fake it anymore.

I would love to bless my sweet sister in law with this. She is a single missionary in Nicaragua & I’d love to show her that she’s loved with this special gift. She always calls Valentines day “Singles awareness day” & celebrates in her own special way (usually involving chocolate; ))

I am loved..and lost. But thank the Lord. I have not checked these devotions for more months than I can remember and the first one I click on has God’s grace and exactly the words that could mean the most even if my fragile heart seems incapable of really “feeling” them. I am loved…I am loved.

  25. Anne Gallagher says:

I was just told by a wonderful Christian widower that he would like to date me but since I am divorced it is not an option. This was the first time in 3 years after the divorce I let my guard down. Feeling dejected and oh so lonely.

  29. Lauren Rachal says:

I am loved- and so so grateful for that. I went through a crushing valley this summer that was kicked off with a breakup. I didn’t see any of it at the time, but I am so grateful I came out of that valley stronger than I went into it. I chose to lean on God and he pulled me through and I came out hopeful and encouraged….and in a stronger faith with God! It was an awful time, but I am so grateful it happened because it brought me back to God. I am loved!

  30. Elizabeth Earle says:

I needed to read this post. I am loved 🙂

  31. I really was blessed by this post. I am loved!

  32. Thanks so much, I am totally not a fan of this “holiday” but I am starting to celebrate it with the people in my life who love me. Being single is not a bad thing, it can be a self discovery of God’s love and commitment to you….maybe I am in a relationship!

  33. I am loved not because of what I do but because He has an unconditional love for me that goes beyond my mistakes. The people in my life may change, may forget me, may make me feel less, or maybe they make me feel amazing and important and valuable, but God, my perfect Lover loves me with a love beyond human love and won’t ever let me go.

  34. My sister said I should read your message on Proverbs 31 from yesterday. Over 4 years ago , my husband , of 30 years, left me for his music partner. I still struggle. Although things are better I still have terrible days where I feel so betrayed, unloved, unwanted. I lost myself in the couple we were, and now I find it hard to believe that I can be a strong person without him. I know the Lord is watching me and loves me, and I need to lean more on Him and not try to do it alone. I have 4 wonderful adult children and supportive family and friends. I want to learn how to let go of the pain and see the joy that life can bring.

  35. Suzy James says:

Thank you for writing this blog post. This will be my daughter’s first Valentine’s Day since her boyfriend of three years broke up with her. I would love to win this prize package for her. Thank you!

  36. I am loved!
Thank you Amy! Love and prayers to all single folks.

  37. I do that devotion yesterday and wasn’t sure I could read it so I waited… I reas it this morning. Gods timing is perfect! Those are words I never thought i could say. After breaking off an engagement and a recent disappointment in another man I really felt alone. I realized Gods protection and know that He is using this to prepare me for my Boaz.
    I am loved!!♥️

  38. I am loved….and so is this woman I’m praying for who is now single.

  39. Kerri Schuerman says:

I am loved, I am 54, single and loved by God. I went through bitterness when relationships have fallen apart. I asked God to take away the desire for marriage if he truly wanted me single. I have two adopted girls, the Good Lord is amazing. Life is hard sometimes with a 16 yr. Old and a teen..but Godis good and he is there if I only trust, ask, and let him lead me. Thx for your blog. It is awesome!

  40. Scherry Dedman says:

I remember going through my divorce and wanting to be strong for my daughter’s sake, but feeling like a complete failure. God lovingly reminded me that I cold turn to him with all my emotions and He would comfort me and remind me that I am loved.

  41. Jessica Parks says:

I am loved! It takes alot to be mindful of that around this time when all I feel is rejection, pain, and like i am hard, or a burden to love! This season I am learning that God chose me, not the other way around, and because he did I have the greatest love of all! Remembering that as everyone makes plans for V-day is still a difficult task.

  42. I am loved…thank you, Amy. I just experienced the painful final end to a 6 year on again-off again relationship with a widower. I thought he was the one, he just needed time to mourn first. But I never quite made the cut, and have been struggling with feelings of unworthiness and of being naive and foolish all this time.

  43. Jennifer Fredericks says:

Thank you for this story. It seemed as if you were speaking directly to me. I am loved and there’s no greater love than His. ?

  44. Simplestace says:

I needed to hear this truth tonight. Thank you. I am loved and worth it. My story has value. I am a daughter of the king who has been redeemed. God is good.

  45. I am loved! single, happy, beaming, daughter of the most high. Yes valentine’s day can be hard on us singles in this century. but i thank God he is holding my hand through this season of singleness until i meet my Boaz.

  46. Cindy Mulkey says:

I am loved! Also want my daughter to know she is loved. She went thru a divorce a few years ago and I know is still struggling inside. This gift will be perfect for her!

  47. Stephanie G. says:

I am loved. THANK you for sharing this post!!! I would love to win this giveaway. God Bless!

  48. I am loved. I am wanted. I am adored. By the One who sees me…the One who knows me…the One who created me. And this Valentine’s Day, I want that to be enough! Isn’t it beautiful that with God we don’t have to settle for less than we deserve! He always gives us what we truly need. I just broke up with first guy I’ve dated seriously since my divorce 3 years ago. My heart is broken and I am grieving. But in the waiting I will be grow and become more of who God created me to be. And know that I am NEVER alone.

  49. I would love to win! Not only is Valentine’s Day difficult.. Just being single when you are close to your thirties (yes I’m young but since I was a little girl I dreamed of getting married after high school. I’m only about 11 years late at this point) and it seems like EVERYONE around you is married is just so so difficult at times.

  50. I am loved by my One True God for I am His beloved daughter.

  51. I am loved – the holidays in general are somethings I’d like to rush by. Being 43 and still single, I often wonder what God has for me. I’ve even gone as far as to ask Him just to take me from this world if he doesn’t have anyone for me, I don’t want to grow old single & without kids… But I have to remember, I am loved by the the one and only who truly matters!

    1. Dear Diane, you have a hope and a future! Claim Jeremiah 29:11!

  52. I have been waiting for Mr Christian Right for 15 years. Thankfully, I felt God tugging at my heart and filling me up. Oh yes, I would still love to be married again, but I’m okay with the waiting. God has something great in store for us singles. The greatest Valentine’s Day is on it’s way.

  53. Marcy Eagle says:

    I am loved!!❤️❤️

  54. Courtney B says:

I saw the title of Today’s Reading and I just HAD to read it– because I’m Sooo much in that space. I’m trting with everything in me to do it the way you’ve described in your blog… Feeling the emotion and laying it at His feet; letting Him heal my brokenness. I felt His love today like never before and I spent half the in tears just because that feeling of despair; the feeling I did something wrong; that feeling to go back— it’s not as loud as it used to sound. He’s been walking me through this season; all of my emotional ups and downs. And where I’ve not wanted to be THAT girl who keeps bringing it up with my girlfriends, The Lord has been there to hear every cry and to comfort me no matter how many times I brought it to Him. It’s been almost 3 months since my breakup and I’m just trusting Him to give me what I need to make through each day as it comes. Sorry so long but this has blessed me so much; as Valentine’s Day rolls in I was starting to get that feeling of not even participating but The Lord gave me new insight to share live towards others who may not have anyone to show them love and reading your blog just confirmed that for me… Thank you so much for sharing your story!

  55. Being divorced 16 years and “tired of kissing frogs”, I stay alone because I don’t want to settle. I do have to admit it does get very lonely and I do get tired of doing things by myself. I know God has someone for me. Definitely not a fan of Valentines day. I AM LOVED!

  56. I am loved. I am the daughter of the King. 27 year marriage destroyed by his love for another woman. I am healing, and God is right here with me.

  57. MARY LOU ARNING says:

This is the first time I have seen a devotional that addressed the loneliness of those of us who hate Valentine’s day for whatever reason, in my case divorce. Thanks for the reminder that I am loved by Jesus, He is my Valentine.

  58. Lara Polk says:

I have to say I was dreading this Valentine’s day – another day to watch everyone around me be so much in love – another year by myself — but after reading your message, I reminded myself I am not alone — I am loved and everything is going to be ok. Thanks for your message.

  62. I know I am loved and that God is in control!

  63. Mary Hilding says:

I am loved. I’ve never really been one for Valentine’s Day. My birthday is the 13th and growing up I would always get Valentine’s Day stuff for my birthday. It is my least favorite holiday. Thanks for sharing.

  64. I am loved! and so is my sister whose boyfriend of 6 years just broke up with her. She heartbroken.

  65. “I am Loved” by an Awesome God!

  67. I am loved, indeed. After the failing of a very difficult 27-year marriage, I do long to experience love in a healthy marriage. BUT! I have learned that I would rather be single and whole in HIM than compromise in that area ever again! I am learning the precious “more than enough” of Christ in my life; that which fills my heart with His perfect, sweet, tender love. Thanks for the dear reminder.

  68. I am loved! Thank you so much for this wonderful reminder…it was just what I needed today. I know that God closed one door because what lies on the other side is His path for me. God’s timing is perfect ❤️

  72. Nancy Griggs says:

I consider myself a single. I’ve been a widow since 1981. But I’d like this for a young woman who comes to our Monday Bible study group. Many of us are retired and yet this young gal joins us. She is so refreshing. I’d love to bless her!

  73. Bobbi Wineberg says:

I have a teacher friend. In October she had a brain tumor removed and is still recovering but back teaching. She loves her students and assigned those who would be prayer warriors, a student. She struggles with being single.

  74. Thank you so much for this post! So relevant to me at this point in my life. Last week after going through a year of being unsure where we stood, I took the scary step to break it off with my boyfriend. I totally resonated with you when you said you tried to fix things. I kept thinking well maybe its because I do this or that…which was totally not healthy blaming myself. Finally I decided to reach out and seek Godly counsel and I have been able to see things in a different light. Although my heart is sad, I feel a sense of peace and freedom in knowing that I can trust Him, God knows what is best. I hope that this brings some peace to someone else.
    I am loved!

  75. Every day is Valentine’s Day when you are LOVED so completely by our awesome God!! He is everything we need!

  76. Iam loved! After losing my fiance of 5 years and losing two babies. Iam still loved beyond words. Jesus is my reason for love , peace and healing. Iam a new woman in Christ and through His stregth , Iam alive and keep going each day.Today my idenetity and self love comes from the only man in my life…my Lord and saviour Jesus. I have learn what real love is when I found true love in Him. Thank you!

  77. What a beautiful reminder at a time when it is so easy to feel jaded and isolated. I am all to easily focused on the negative aspects of dating and all the difficulties that come with it in this day and age. Your post has renewed my faith in Jesus’ plan for my life. Thank you!

I am loved! By my family, my friends, church and of course, my savior Jesus!

  84. I really needed to read this today. The one I thought I’d spend my life with, walked out the door in October. I have been dreading Valentine’s Day and all the emotions that go with it. However, I am letting myself feel what I need to feel – and know in my heart that God removed him from my life for my good. Thank you for reminding me that I am loved unconditionally by the one man who will never walk away from me!

  85. I am loved. Thank you for this post. Helpful reminder to those of us who are single especially at this time of the year. 🙂

  89. Alexandra says:

    I am loved.

It’s still hard to believe that I am deserving of love, especially during this time of the year.

Thank you for your post. Your words are so inspirational and I hope to reach your level of knowledge and contentment one day.

  90. I am loved Abba Father. I was reduced to stubble, emotionally exhausted, physically hurt, and quit praying since my husband died, after such a painful experience. How could you? Then I looked at your son Jesus. Because you wanted me closer, in love with you, my Heavenly Father. My first love. You know I desired a good, kind, self controlled dearest friend and companion who promised never to leave me or forsake me– whose love never fails. I thought i needed a teacher who loves me unconditionally. I know now that is you.

    I believe. Help my unbelief!

  91. Audrey Reville says:

Thanks for reminding me that I AM LOVED?. Your devotional spoke right to me today and made me think about how far I have come in the last 15 months. As I read it I was reminded of all the times I felt alone and broken, then God rushed in and reminded me that I am LOVED and he will never leave me broken hearted. Thank you!

  92. I am loved because as Lysa Terkeurst says in “Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl,” “Overlooked by everyone, but handpicked by God.” God thought we were so amazing the He made the stars and the mountains and everything beautiful on this earth and then decided that He needed one of you too. You can’t call that anything but love.

  93. Shannon Oakley says:

What an awesome reminder that we are loved by the One whose love matters the most! Being single is especially challenging when everyone around you is getting married or having children. This is a great way to celebrate the greatest love we will ever have, a love that can be fulfilled by no one else.

Thank you for sharing your insight 🙂

  94. I am loved. My Valentine this year is Jesus.

  95. I am trying to learn and remember that I am loved. Prayer appreciated!

  96. Courtney Salter says:

Amy, I actually googled “handling rejection as a Christian” and your blog post came up. My story is very similar but different. I recently left an abusive marriage, where rejection was very profound only to find one of my longtime best friends motives behind our friendship was a more “in-depth relationship”. When I wasn’t ready for that, I’ve now faced rejection there too. Just last night, my daughter wanted me to watch a “cute-couple, they’re so in love”, and I found myself not even wanting to look at them. I don’t want to have a hard heart toward love as I know we are called to love. Your blog post could not have been more perfect!!! So incredibly powerful! I printed it to have to read as a reminder each day! In reading it, I decided to not only use your guidance, but to share Valentine’s with a dear friend who has lost her husband and one of her son’s within the past three years. Thank you! Thank you for sharing your heart and your journey! My you continue experiencing the fullness of His blessings!

  97. Thanks for reminding me that I am loved.

  100. Jennifer R. says:

Gods love has surrounded me. My love was betrayed by my spouse and going through divorce now. It isn’t easy but it does get better! God is faithful. He will never leave us or betray us.

  106. I really needed your devotion this morning to remind me I am loved. God knew what I needed and led me to read your devotion today. This year I’ve been struggling more than usual with being single and alone during Valentine’s Day.

  107. I an loved. Thank you so much for this. Just what I needed today.

  108. “You have turned my mourning into JOYFUL dancing.” Psalm 30:11
“I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the GLORY about to be revealed to us.” Romans 8:18
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have PEACE. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Every time I read these verses, my heart is reminded that no matter how bad I feel, I AM LOVED.

  109. Thank you God for showing me every day that I AM LOVED!! It’s the most precious and powerful feeling to know deep in my heart that YOU know me inside and out – and despite that I may feel unlovable, you love me completely!! I am so grateful and humbled every day by your tremendous blessings!!

  110. I am loved – after reading all the comments, I realize that I am in the same boat as several others, however, it is difficult to bear when one loses the love of their life unexpectedly. I was in a 5-yr relationship with the man I wanted (and still do) to marry. It’s been a tough few months, crying and wondering why. I’m still hoping to learn the lessons that God has for me, and praying that my faith will bring happiness and joy back into my life – At 56 years old, it’s difficult to think I might be facing this world alone…ugh…

  111. Becky Foutz says:

What you had to say was so good! I have a young niece who is going through the pain of a break up right now, so would love to win this little package and give it to her!

  112. Ruth Miller says:

Thank you for the encouraging words. It is a hard day when we are single not by choice. I know that I am loved……

  113. I am loved! It is so hard being in ministry, going through a divorce and learning how to be single. Thankful that I am loved and will always be loved be my Heavenly Father!

  114. I am loved. And should be feeling that more often. Thank you for the encouragement.

  115. I am loved!! And so is my dear sister. I’m commenting on her behalf. She is struggling through a nasty divorce.
    Thank you for your article.

  116. Wendi Self says:

I am loved! (that was ridiculously hard to type…..)

Thank you!!! I really needed that pep talk. 🙂

  117. My daughter knows she is loved and waits for only Gods best for her. She has never had a boyfriend and knows that God has plans for her, but sometimes the feeling of loneliness gets to her. She begins to wonder if there is anybody even out there that loves God like she does and has the same desires in his heart. I pray daily for God to overwhelm her with his love and remind her His plans are always worth waiting for. Thanks for sharing your encouraging story for singles!

  118. Monica Archer says:

I am loved! For my newly divorced friend.

  119. I AM LOVED! I am sharing this with my single 23 year old daughter!

  120. Thank you for sharing your experience Amy!

    I am loved!

  121. I AM LOVED. It’s hard to feel that all the time though, while enduring this heartbreak. I pray for God’s healing love.

  122. I am loved by the almighty Father! Thank you for this beautiful message!❤️

  123. I am loved!
    Thanks for the encouragement

  124. I am loved and thankful for the journey that God has taken me through to realize this. Thank you for this great reminder!

  125. Jennifer Wayt-Dunten says:

I am going to give this to my good friend, name buddy, and hairdresser Jennifer T. We’ve been friends for close to 20 years. I met her the first time when I was a walk-in @ the hair salon she worked at, to get a perm. We joked that it was meant to be because we were both the same age and both named Jennifer. She’s never been married but is one of the sweetest people I know. She helped care for her Dad before he died from heart issues and infection. She’s moved in with her elderly Mom to help care for her as her health has been declining in recent years. She always calls me or texts me on my birthday or whenever she’s thinking about me. She puts everyone else before herself. Perhaps that’s why she’s never been married. She had a bad breakup about a year ago and hasn’t been able to recover from it. She still loves the guy even though he left her for another woman. She has been very vocal about dreading this Valentine’s Day. I would really like to help her, but with me being married with two kids, I’m not sure what to say to her that would help her to feel better about herself the way she’s often helped me. I hope I do win this so I can give this gift to her to let her know that she is loved.

  126. Judy Duecker says:

I am loved by an awesome God.

  127. TallulahJane says:

I AM LOVED…I need to shout this. As a single mom of teens, I don’t feel loved all the time. Being single during this holiday is hard, especially due to the circumstances of my singleness. But I try to focus on God and His love and all He has done for me and my family!!
    Great giveaway!

  128. Hilniqua Gibson says:

    **I am loved**
Your words have truly been a Blessing.

  129. I am loved! Thank you for posting this, it’s very encouraging as I journey through a difficult breakup.

  130. Thank you so much for this powerful reminder Amy. This is an excruciatingly painful time in my life right now. but, you are exactly right and I need to be constantly reminded, just because I have been rejected and divorced by the man I still consider the love of my life, after 18 years of marriage and the last 23 years together… does not mean I am unloved. I am unconditionally loved by my Ultimate and Eternal Husband above who will NEVER leave not forsake me. and I need to let that Amazing Truth deeply penetrate my heart and soul, this Valentine’s Day and Every Day.

  131. I went through a painful divorce a few years ago that ended a marriage of 18 years, but it was only hanging on to God and His promises that got me through it and brought me to where I am today. I am still single, but God is my best friend and the reason I live each day to the fullest.

  132. Cj Denman says:

  134. This is for a young woman, a babe in Christ, who has faced much heartache in her young life in relationships with unscrupulous men. God gave her a beautiful spirit and a heart that loves more deeply than most. We pray that our Lord will bring her closer to Him, give her His peace that the world knows not, and sends her a man of God who will love her like Christ loves His Church. Thank you for your encouraging devotional Amy.

  135. Kym Smart says:

I am loved! This is such a hard concept for me to grasp! Being 34 single never married is so difficult and I’ve said many times “I hate Valentine’s Day!!” I’m praying this year is different. Praying I can feel the depth of His love for me so much that I don’t miss the love of a companion… So much that this ache in my heart is healed.

  136. Allison B says:

Thanks for your encouragement. After 25 years of marriage, my husband said he just didn’t love me anymore. It’s been a few years since this happened, but this time of year is always hard (Valentine’s Day and close to anniversary). God has been so good to me and the kids.

  137. I am loved!! ❤️❤️

  138. Though I think I could greatly benefit from this package as a single woman in her mid-30s…I have a friend who is hurting and in need. After a failed marriage and countless failed dating relationships, she needs healing. I feel like I’ve done all I can, and can now only pray for her and sit while she cries. I’d love to share this gift with her.

  148. My feelings of loneliness and brokenness were very present with me this morning and all the way to work I just told myself just put on the plastic smile and when everyone at work asks how your weekend was just tell them is was great and carry on with the day. UNTIL…. Your email was the second one I opened this morning and I thank you so much for your message as I feel you had this crystal ball in front of you and in the center of it was me. I will save your message today and reread it several times as a message of hope and healing. 🙂

  149. Francini Andino says:

I am loved! It was just for me today, thanks!

  150. I was divorced over 20 years ago and have remained Single ever since. Most Valentine’s Days have been hard for me, because even though I KNOW I AM LOVED, as a child of the King, I still live in and among the world of special gifts, boxes of chocolate, flowers and roses, sappy cards, romantic getaways/dates and other Valentine-y type gestures!! And even among the Christian community there is always a surge of marriage conferences and banquets for couples around the 14th…occasionally, there might be something specific for Singles,
but not very often!! I do wish the Church and Christian community at large would work a whole lot harder to change this and reverse this unfortunate trend!!

  151. I am loved!

I had what I thought was the love of my life. He had been my best friend for years, he proposed Valentine’s Day of 2015,our 5 year anniversary and up and left in December without warning. No one saw it coming, we had a house, dogs, and loving support from everyone and it all shattered one Sunday morning. I tried to be supportive of him because he claimed he was going through depression. But in the end, it seems it may have been a cover. I’m not really sure and only
God knows. Needless to say, I have been dreading that 14th of February everyday since and it’s only coming faster and faster. I am lucky to have a great friend who refuses to let me be alone that day.

I secretly hope he comes back one day, which I’m sure is normal at this stage. 12 years of friendship and almost 6 years together, it’s not easy to overcome. I truly loved your story Amy, it shows I’m not alone even when it feels that way at times.

    Thanks for sharing

  152. I AM LOVED! Being Children of Christ, we are all loved in more ways then we could ever imagine! Happy Valentines Day to y’all!! 🙂

  153. My aunt lost her husband suddenly 2 years ago this past Thanksgiving. She is only 52 years old and had begun to date. She found a man who seemed to be a perfect fit, but now he is having to move to another state and they have decided to break up the relationship rather than try to have a long distance one. She know the plans that God has for her, but the losses in her life (also her 21 year old son, 3 yrs and 3 mos. prior to her husbands death) weigh heavily at times. I would love to give this gift to her to brighten her day just a bit. I know that losing this relationship so close to Valentines will be hard for her.

  154. Vivian Johnson says:

I am loved because of Him!

  155. I am loved! And praise God He uses every circumstance to shape our character. My MIL is presently single. She lost her husband in 2008 & then her oldest son in 2012, both to cancer. She is such a caring, loving person; but I can see a sadness consumes her. She loves to read & I send these daily devotions to her, but I would love to as her begin to feel Gods loving arms around her, comforting her. I know she would read you book. I want to hear her say I AM Loved! ?

  218. Sarah Metz says:

I am loved. Ironic that I read this the day after it was discussed at Church. I’ve been a divorced, single mom for 12 years now. My ex husband cheated, and every relationship since has been a failed one. For the longest time I was angry with God. You know, the typical “why me” question. But yesterday in church, it was put to me in a new perspective. Instead of always thinking “why God do these horrible things happen?” Think of God saying “Me Too!” He knows the world is messed up and broken, and He has a hard time believing some of the awful things that happen and choices people make too. He loves us and wants nothing more than to comfort us.

  219. I would like this give away for my sister in law who is my friend. She is discouraged and possibly suffering depression. She has never had a true love and feels left out and forgotten. She feels this way most of the time but especially around Valentine’s Day and other holidays. I am loved and so is she.

  239. I am loved. I pray I will be faithful to show love to others.

  240. I am loved. Thank you for this message my heart is broken right now becuase once again I was lied too. But God gave me courage to walk away knowing he has something better for me. I know this weekend will be hard but I will hold on to the one who love me the most!!!

  247. I am loved! I took me years to believe this and I’m still learning to hold on to this truth everyday. As I’m trying to help my coworker who recently was left by her partner of 8 years, God is reminding me of just how far he’s brought me. My coworker is a lot like me in so many ways. I’m praying that God uses this pain to introduce her to a love that’s greater than what she lost!

  248. I AM LOVED………I will try to remember that all day today!

but your devotion reminded me that valentine’s day is on a sunday this year, and that i need to turn to God for love and acceptance instead of looking to the world for those things. thank you for the reminder.

  253. I am loved- This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing

  254. I am loved…Even if I don’t feel it right now

  255. kim osborne says:

Thank you for letting us know we are loved as single people. My dream was to be married and have children. But this has not happened. My story of rejection is from a man who was a Christian and it shattered me beyond. Then he came back after a period of 9 years, yes I waited for him, and he just did it all over again. Was I mad. No – I was devastated and angry at myself for allowing it to happen. Do I feel unloveable – not today – your blog has shown me that Jesus loves me, and now in middle age I realise that He was rejected by the very people He loved, what makes me think I won’t be rejected by those I believe will love me.

  256. Becky Fitchett says:

I am loved… by an amazing God who loves even the unloveable.

    I am Loved

This message was specially crafted for me as I am at the same point you were 27years ago. I am going through a terrible break up at the moment and I am thankful valentine’s day falls on a weekend. It makes it a little more bearable. My intention was to stay indoors through it so I don’t bump into love birds and slip into depression but I am opening myself up to God’s healing.
God bless you Amy for being a vessel

  259. Elizabeth-Anne Buonagura says:

I am loved – even though I was left at the alter at age 46 after re-locating abroad, losing my job, health insurance, all my money.

I was so angry, bitter, filled with hatred towards everyone and did not speak to God for 2 or 3 years.

But my life is better now than before it was I left for England.

I guess I needed to wait upon His good timing.

He came thru for me and I am grateful every day.

  260. I am loved…even if I don’t feel it…

  261. I am loved…. By the most amazing God❤️

  262. On the recent KLOVE radio cruise, Chris Tomlin shared with us Good Father. The powerful song and the spirit filling the place gave me a sense of what Love is and I felt included.

  263. Isabel Salazar says:

    I am loved! ❤️

    1. Isabel Salazar says:

This past July my boyfriend of almost two years ended things just out of the blue and I was completely shattered and have never felt such pain and rejection in my life from someone that I loved so much. I couldn’t grasp the idea of us not being together or understand how someone that said they loved you and wanted to spend the rest of their life with you could just change their mind. I let this hardship get the best of me and I developed anxiety and a short period of depression.. My parents sat down with me and made me realize that no man could truly love someone until they learn how to love with Christs love. The last 6 months I learned that this boy that I loved with all my heart was not who I thought he was and my eyes opened. God was protecting me and not only was He protecting me from what could have been a devastating future; but He was trying to get my attention so that I could develop a relationship with him like I never had before. There are still days where I let my thoughts control me and I get sad whenever I think about him but then I soon remember that Jesus works every bad situation into good and that no man should be my source of happiness. Jesus is the only one that can fill these broken parts and I’m getting to that full healing ❤️

      1. So very grateful to have found your testimony this morning… Struggling but praying and trusting God.

  264. I am loved…even after my husband of 39 years has chosen a young girlfriend and bought her an engagement ring … I am loved and will never be abandoned by my heavenly father

    1. Yes, I am loved, too. Even though my husband of 30 years has divorced me. I am loved by the Father who fills my heart and gives me peace and healing through this struggle. Praise God!

      1. Happy Valentines Day to you Amy and all of your coworkers too……love to read your articles……thank-you

I am loved unconditionally by the Lord Jesus…….His love never ends and I love that blessing

I am now a very young 62, God has kept me young in my thinking and even outward appearance like a 45 yr old…..

Over the years I have worked as an LPN. and was a guardian for a short time for my 3 yr old niece and my 4 yr old nephew for a couple years….I had built in family babies to care for, seven of them….and when I was the guardian of the two little ones….I had the blessing of starting both of them in preschool…

I always wanted a Christian husband and a boy and girl…….God blessed me with the girl and boy, Mari and Malia…….so now the only other blessing as far as my personal life is……….A Christian husband from the Lord only..

BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR GOD GIVEN FAMILY………
