A Peek Behind the Curtain

Do you feel a little mental whiplash?

Maybe you’ve been wondering, What is Amy doing? Why has she started talking about Esther? Where did her emphasis on Listen –> Feel –> Do –> Speak go?

It just occurred to me that I need to explain this journey I’ve been on and to encourage you that I haven’t run off the tracks! Here’s a little peek behind the curtain for you, one of my dear community members, to show you how we got here.

About three years ago, my friend Lynn Cowell and I started working on a book proposal. It was full of the process we’ve been going through here, but for a long list of reasons, that proposal received a big pile of rejection letters. (Sigh. Maybe it will get a “yes” later?)

But in the midst of writing that proposal, Lynn had a huge “aha” moment. She had been studying the book of Esther when she realized that Listen –> Feel –> Do –> Speak isn’t just an “Amy process.” It’s a process that God uses in His people’s lives all through the Bible. Lynn first saw it in Esther, so she wrote her sample chapter for that failed proposal on Esther’s journey through our four steps.

About the time we received our last rejection letter, Lynn’s editor from her previous book, Make Your Move, reached out to ask her if she’d like to write another Bible study for them. Lynn looped me in, and we wrote this new study of Esther together called, Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World. The book is structured around the process we’ve been living out her for several years with one week spent on each step (with motives and outcomes added at the beginning and end to make it a six-week study). It’s a deep dive, and I think you’ll love it.

I may have found a new sweet spot, y’all! I already loved co-authoring (and Lynn is a dream co-author), but now I’ve discovered how much I love writing Bible studies.

So… I want to give you all a place to go for all the goodies. There are so many free bonuses for you! Here’s a list:

  1. YAHOOOOO! I am so excited to share all we’ve been learning over the past couple of years, Amy. Who knew all God had packed into this story? And we thought we already knew Esther!

Right?! God’s Word is living and active!

The Esther study sounds good and worthwhile. Right now, however, I must decline, as I am engaged in three daily studies already.

I totally understand! Our study is in book form, so she’ll be ready whenever you are. 😉
