Whew! The election is over and the holidays are zooming toward us. It really feels like a new season, and I’m full of hope.
For almost two years now, I’ve been hitting heavy topics with my blog posts. I’ve grown, and I hope you have too. For the months of November and December, though, I feel like we need a break for some lightness and fun!
With my mind turning toward Christmas (and probably yours too!), I’m going to do a couple of fun posts to share some shopping suggestions. Because I’m a book girl, I’m starting off today with one book that particularly delighted my heart and soul this year..
Jennifer Bleakley, the author, lives in my area, and after we met, she asked me to endorse her new book. Because I was a huge fan of her first book, Joey: How a Blind Rescue Horse Helped Others to See, I couldn’t wait to dive into her newest book. I was right to be excited! Here’s my official take on Pawverbs:
Reading Pawverbs was the cold drink for which my my world-weary soul thirsted. Breaking through division and disheartening news cycles, Jen Bleakley brings us the refreshing stories of our loyal furry friends. At first, I was skeptical that she could tie these sweet stories into Scripture, but I was wrong. Each tale (of tails!) holds a powerful truth, often bringing me to tears as I applied it to my personal life.~Me 🙂
Doesn’t this sound exactly like what you and your pet-loving friends need? Jen’s also followed up with a second book called Pawverbs for a Dog Lover’s Soul: Inspiring Stories of Friendship, Fun, and Faithfulness. I highly recommend both of these books as well as Joey as Christmas presents for others or a gift for your own soul.
Jen is in on the fun with us today, and offered to do a generous giveaway which you can see below. To enter, simply leave the name of your favorite pet or your favorite animal in the comments. I’ll randomly choose a winner on Monday, Nov. 16th from the comments.
The “Coffee and Kibble” giveaway includes two locally made (by Porch Dog pots in Garner, NC) pottery pieces: a paws and pray mug and Pawverbs pet food bowl. You’ll also receive both of Jen’s newly released books, Pawverbs and Pawverbs for a Dog Lover’s Heart.
As an extra treat, Grit ‘n’ Grace has just released our interview with Jen Bleakley. Click the graphic below to listen in to hear her talk about why she wrote Pawverbs and all the fun along the way. (You can also listen to Grit ‘n’ Grace the Podcast on our website or on iTunes.)
Special note: I re-listened to this interview as I was walking today, and it may win the award for “Most Delightful Grit ‘n’ Grace Interview!” Honestly, you just have to listen. It’s sure to make your day!
