Belief is Better… Than Fear

Belief is better… than what?

After studying the word “believe” for just three months this year, I can tell you with confidence that belief is better than fear, than wavering, than uncertainty, than doubt…

Those were just a few of the emotions I wrestled with until I was exhausted last year. How I wish I had followed Jesus’ words from mini-lesson #1 of 4 today. Well, it’s a new day, so I’m starting now! How about you?

Good afternoon Amy Carroll! Yesterday, I opened my Tuesday email from Proverbs 31 Ministries and read your message “What is True Belief?”. I was especially drawn to your 4th paragraph wherein you spoke about your key word for growth for the year. I had never heard of doing that, and I was compelled (thank you Jesus for gentle nudging of your Holy Spirit) to ask God for a word for growth for me. As I was reading through the comments section, I noticed another sister asked you how to decide on a word, and you provided her a link to the vlog you did. I watched and listened, and then I asked God for my word. Quietly and quickly, He gave me the word “Trust”, and the scripture that flowed out of my mouth was Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” This morning, before the start of my women’s Bible study at a Christian bookstore, I was in the stall in the restroom, and when I turned to flush the toilet (I know it sounds silly, but….) I looked at the wallpaper behind it and noticed there was a short scripture on it a few inches above the toilet that read “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” I burst into laughter and thanked and praised God for His Word for me! When I came out of the stall, I noticed that same small scripture continued around the entire restroom. I’ve been attending this Bible study on Thursday mornings for 5 weeks now, and I use that restroom every time. I never noticed that verse before!! My “story” was in full fledged cardiac arrest for 7 months prior to attending this Bible study “Redeemed: Grace to Live Every day Better Than Before”, by Angela-Thomas Pharr. Ever since the first session on Sept. 28th, God has been removing the thorns of sorrow, pain, worthlessness, hopelessness and loneliness from my heart, and replacing it with His promise of steadfast love for me. The chains and shackles that held me captive for nearly 40 years have been falling and shattering apart when they hit the ground, and I am being redeemed. I am becoming the daughter that He predestined me to be. Oh sister, I can’t hold back the tears even when I try. The transformation taking place within me is beyond what I ever imagined could possibly be. I’m learning how to pray again, and He is teaching me how to pray scripture, His Word over my life. Thank you so much for teaching me yet another way I can grow in Him and in Wisdom. I’m so excited to learn how to trust in God in all things, and to see the abundant and good blessings He has for me as I continue to study and live my life trusting in Him. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! May the grace and peace of God overflow into your life, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
