How to Persevere in Speaking Up

So… I blew it online today.

Sigh.

Instead of calling a guy up (I mean, he was a STRANGER who made a nasty personal assumption about me, and he was dead wrong, and… ahem.), my emotions got the best of me, and I called him out instead. (I wasn’t totally nasty, but I let some snark slip.)

This is a process, isn’t it?

I should have applied a powerful principle that Karen shares in today’s interview. It’s one we all need to implement, so make sure to get a cup of coffee, relax and listen. Then we’ll practice it together. 🙂

There are so many great take-aways in this interview. I’d love to hear your favorite!

Over the years Karen McNary has worn many hats – Commercial Lender, HR Professional, Domestic Engineer, and to her amazement, Teaching Leader with Bible Study Fellowship, Intl.  But the most important one other than daughter of the King, is as wife to Keith and mom to sons Davis, Chase, and Layne.

God has placed in her heart a deep desire to help free Christians from cultural conformity and equip them to live Kingdom principles so that God’s agenda is visible, attainable, and transformational to all.  She lives this mission by blogging about the intersection between faith and work at karenmcnary.com, providing Christ-centered career coaching, and teaching God’s Word through Borderless Bible Studies and occasionally Proverbs 31 Ministries’ First 5 app.

When she’s not teaching or working, she can be found uncovering overlooked jewels at the local thrift store.

Love love love this podcast!!! Thank you ladies for helping me way my growth in being more Christ like ~

  2. I listened to this three times – and took notes! And then, because I loved it so much, I made a few quote memes from it and shared them on Facebook. “We can’t do all of it, but we can’t do nothing, either.” and also “Labels are lazy. If I can label you think I don’t have to think about the truth of what you’re saying.” Wow! I didn’t make a meme out of this one yet, but also “Demonizing is a way of deflecting.” This made me think about my motives – whether I’m coming from a place of God’s love or not. I also loved that it is God’s job to open eyes and ears. We can plant seeds but only God can make them grow!

  4. Amy, to me, you nailed it when you said, It’s hard! But, you know what, I love the fact that you are willing to use your platform to bring perspective to light. That’s what Jesus did, too. ?
